Fieldwork in Hungary
Instructors and Mentors: Attila Kékesi, Dorottya Zurbó, Krisztina Meggyes, Bálint Bíró
This course takes place mainly on location far away from the capital within the framework of an intensive field trip of 8 to 10 days in the Hungarian countryside.
Teamwork is the basic method in the study camp where the groups of students operate according to the regular procedures of professional filmmaking in research, pre-production, shooting, and post-production.
Students learn how to work in a larger crew, by contributing to one another’s work in different roles amongst the team whilst having to adjust the suitable group dynamics in order to attain the goal of the film exercise in a very limited time.
Students take all the practical and aesthetic decisions within the group, having to react fast to take timely decisions in the finding of immediate solutions for arising problems, as well as building cohesive relationships within the group by prioritizing the interest of the film rather than of their own. This exercise is about filmmaking, but also about social skills in teamwork.
