Olga Lucovnicova’s graduation film Nanu Tudor / My Uncle Tudor won the Golden Bear for Best Short Film in the 71st Berlinale.
It’s the first time that a DocNomads produced film enters the competition in Berlinale, and by achieving such relevant distinction in a first time makes it a remarkable occasion to celebrate.
Olga Lucovnicova’s graduation film My Uncle Tudor will have its World Premiere competing in the Berlinale Shorts.
From the Wild Sea by Robin Petré, and Last Days at Sea by Venice Atienza, are two films directed by alumni from DocNomads which were selected to competition in the Generation section of the 71st Berlinale, held between 1 and 5 March.
Abraham Escobedo Salas, a DocNomads student from México, won the “Sophia” award for best documentary in the student category with “In the End of the World”, a film he directed during the 1st semester of DocNomads Masters. The third prize was awarded to “Bacon”, a film by Faizan Ali (Pakistan), which was made in the same semester. The “Sophias” are awarded yearly by the Portuguese Film Academy as a prestigious distinction to films produced in Portugal.
Aylin Gökmen´s graduation film SPIRITS AND ROCKS: AN AZOREAN MYTH, which premiered in Locarno in last August, will have its international premiere in Sundance Film Festival held from 28 January to 3 of February both online and on-site in several locations across the USA.
DOC NOMADS Erasmus Mundus Masters Course is aimed to students from all over the world with a BA degree in Film Studies, in Arts or in Media Communication studies.
