IT IS WHAT IT IS
By Jasmijn Kooijman (Sweden) • 16' • 2025
Time moves slowly at Romano’s bar in the Portuguese mountain village of Aboadela.
Here, a group of young men pass the days with card games and a lingering longing to escape.
Existential reflections intertwine with music-accompanied scooter rides and intimate moments with family.
It Is What It Is is a heartfelt portrait of belonging and dreams, capturing with sensitivity the hope for a good life beyond scarce means.
