Abraham Escobedo Salas, a DocNomads student from México, won the “Sophia” award for best documentary in the student category with “In the End of the World”, a film he directed during the 1st semester of DocNomads Masters. The third prize was awarded to “Bacon”, a film by Faizan Ali (Pakistan), which was made in the same semester. The “Sophias” are awarded yearly by the Portuguese Film Academy as a prestigious distinction to films produced in Portugal.
FIPADOC Campus organized the online round table “Spotlight on DocNomads – an inspiring European success” with a Q&A open to the audience attending the Campus activities on the 22nd January. Held in collaboration with Erasmus+ French Agency, this session was moderated by Anna Kaslova and had as participants in the panel two alumni presenting films at FIPADOC and representatives of the 3 partner schools in DN programme. 500 people registered to attend the 45’ online Q&A.
Carlotta Solari´s AN ATTEMPT AT EXHAUSTING AN EGG CUP will premiere in the Short Films competition, and Bálint Bíró´s documentary short DUSK, which recently premiered in IDFA, will be competing in the sections New Talent and Focus Visegrad at FIPADOC – International Film Festival Biarritz held in France between 18 and 22 January.
