“Dans un Souffle” awarded in Porto/Post/Doc
The documentary Dans un Souffle directed by Catarina Couto Gonçalves won the Best Film Award and also the MAD Award in the New Cinema Competition at the 12th Porto/Post/Doc Film & Media Festival held in Portugal.
The film premiered in June at the International Short Film competition of the 32nd SheffieldDoc Fest (UK) winning the Grand Jury Award.
Jury statement: “The language of breathing drives a compelling soundscape in this moving film. Through skilful black and white cinematography, it tells a touching story of the struggle and resilience of an ambitious young skater. Relying wholly on picture and sound, it effectively delivers its message without bias or judgement.”

Belgian figure skater Nina Pinzarrone glides in a delicate pursuit of perfection. Shot in black and white, the documentary explores the constant tension between grace and pain. Guided by Nina’s breath and silence, the film takes the viewer on an ephemeral journey as she prepares for her first World Championship at 17.
