Four DocNomads films selected to Kerala, India
The Whales I Don't See but Are Out There by María Casas Castillo, Remnants of a Lost Time by Sachin, Mum by Siddhant Sarin, and The Silence of the Banana Trees by Eneos Çarka will be presented at the 15th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala held from 4th to 9th August in Kerala, India.

Synopsis:
Exploring the ways of seeing what is invisible, the film features the filmmaker’s mother who can speak to animals. During her field trip to Isabel Island in the Mexican Pacific, her mother sends her audio messages & photographs of the times that she finds whales. The filmmaker’s response is an attempt to learn how to see whales even if they’re far away.

The film depicts Antonio & Maria, as the last two to continue agricultural practices, grazing sheep, and picking up chestnuts in the secluded villages of Tras-Os-Montes mountains in Portugal. After them, the village of Agracoes will disappear.

Synopsis:
70-something Hungarian Mihály Fekete fills his house with artworks made by his daughter Réka. Though she’s an important part of his life, they have not spoken for years. Her decision to keep her distance from her father is painful for him, especially since she is ill. Despite his sorrow, he has resigned himself to do as she wishes. The film eventually serves as a medium to restore a lost connection.
