Four DocNomads films nominated for awards
My Uncle Tudor is nominated for European Short Film as one of five films proposed by high-ranked festivals to the 34th European Film Awards.
Dusk, Don’t Hesitate to Come for a Visit, Mom and Sounds of Weariness are nominated for the Silver Eye Awards promoted by the Institute of Documentary Film in the East Silver Market at the 25th Ji.hlava Int. Documentary Film Festival.
Also, the multi-awarded MY UNCLE TUDOR recently won the international short film competition at Riga International Film Festival, held between 14 and 24 of October in Latvia.
Jury statement: “A brave film about a difficult, personal but universal topic. My Uncle Tudor is very intense but, at the same time, the filmmaker gives us time and space to breathe and process the truth we see on screen. It is a graduation film but the film already displays maturity in the way Olga Lucovnicova handles it in such a delicate way.”

Synopsis
In a rural region of Hungary close to the Serbian border, an invisible danger looms—as any villager can tell you. Figures sneak across the fields, unknown cars are spotted, dogs in yards behave strangely, and children are scared when it gets dark.
Sandor, a father of eight, has taken up a job as a “landguard” to protect the small community in which they live. He patrols the border with his car and night vision goggles, assisted by his eldest son, on the lookout for anything suspicious. Although we don’t actually see any intruders and they are only spoken about in veiled terms, the threat always feels tangible, especially for the children. News reports that the father and son see on their smartphones at night provide some background to all the suspense.
