Érica Faleiro Rodrigues is an international filmmaker, curator, and lecturer.
She holds a BA (Hons) in Film and Video, specialising in Film Directing, from the University of the Arts London, and a Master of Arts in Film Directing from Goldsmiths, University of London. She is currently completing a PhD at Birkbeck, University of London, with a project titled "Women in Portuguese Cinema Before and After the Revolution: Representation and Reality."
Her work as a documentary filmmaker, noted for its social impact, earned her a Skillset Millennium Fellowship Award from the British Government for a series of documentaries exploring the role of art in the lives of refugees in London. Recently, she secured funding from ICA, the main Portuguese film funding institution, to direct a feature-length documentary on Women, Revolution, and Cinema. In addition to her various roles in the film and television industry, Faleiro Rodrigues has worked as an assistant editor for the BBC documentary series “Storyville,” produced by Nick Fraser.
She has served as a film curator at the Barbican Arts Centre in London, where she collaborated with filmmakers such as Mike Leigh, Emir Kusturica, and Nick Broomfield. Faleiro Rodrigues is the founding director of Utopia - UK Portuguese Film Festival, an event supported by Instituto Camões, which will be celebrating its 13th edition in 2024.
Since 2020, Faleiro Rodrigues has been a member of the European Alliance FilmEU, focusing on implementing innovative pedagogical and Artistic Research practices. She lectures in the international Master’s programme KINO Eyes, where she teaches European Film History and Research Methodologies.
