Claire Simon is a French screenwriter, actress, cinematographer, editor, and director.
Raised in the Var region of France, Claire Simon studied ethnology and learned the Arabic and Berber languages.
Self-taught, she began her career in cinema as an editor and made a few short films independently. She learned the practice of direct cinema at the Ateliers Varan.
She is the author of several documentary films, including “La Police,” “Les patients,” “Scènes de ménage,” and “Mimi”. Her first two fiction features, “Sinon, oui” and “Ça brûle,” were both presented at the Cannes Film Festival Directors’ Fortnight.
She was director of the directing department at La Femis and taught a directing workshop at the University of Paris-VIII.
