Pascal Vandelanoitte

Pascal Vandelanoitte is the DocNomads course director in Brussels. He is a film scholar and lectures at LUCA School of Arts on campus Sint Lukas Brussels and campus C-mine Genk.

Pascal Vandelanoitte obtained a Ph. D. in Social Sciences – Film Studies at the University of Leuven in 2012. He has worked for more than a decade in the Brussels arts scene, and started lecturing on film and on documentary in 2014. His interest in different art forms is also present in his lectures and research. As such, his recent research focusses mostly on the intertextual use of existing music in film. Another focus is the interplay between film and other art forms.

Besides teaching contemporary film and documentary at LUCA School of Arts Brussels and Genk, between 2018 and 2022 he was head of Audiovisual Arts at LUCA Brussels; in 2023 he took over the responsibility of course director for DocNomads.

Within the Doc Nomads program, Pascal Vandelanoitte lectures Documentary History III on contemporary documentary, covering different formats and hybrid works between documentary, art film and installation (3rd semester). He is also responsible for supervising the graduation essay papers (4th semester).
