Pedro Marques graduated in Film Directing at the National School of Theater and Cinema (ESTC) in Lisbon, and holds a Master in Communication Sciences (FCSH - Universidade Nova de Lisboa).
He has been a chief editor for documentaries, short fictions and features by film directors such as Pedro Costa, João Botelho, Sérgio Tréfaut, Manuel Mozos, Inês Gonçalves, Margarida Cardoso, Marta Pessoa, among others.
He was given Best Editing Awards for the short fiction "Amanhã" by Solveig Nordlund (Best Editing - 13rd Mediterranean Festival of New Filmmakers, 2005), and for the documentary “Lisboetas” by Sérgio Tréfaut (3rd Cineport Film Festival, Brazil, 2007). He was also nominated for Best Editing for the feature film "Juventude em Marcha" (“Colossal Youth”) by Pedro Costa.
As a filmmaker he directed the short fiction "Eu luto" (“I Fight”, 2008); and the feature documentary "A Nossa Forma de Vida" (“Our Way”, 2011), which was awarded Best Portuguese 1st Film (Doclisboa, 2011); the Honourable Mention of Jury (Joris Ivens Award - Cinéma du Réel, 2012); the Honourable Mention to Creative Documentaries (Documenta Madrid, 2012); the award “Extra Muros” (7th Pravo Ljubski Film Festival, Sarajevo); and the Best Director award in the Festival “Caminhos do Cinema Português” (Portugal, 2012).
