Irena studied at Prague Film Academy (FAMU), Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem and obtained a Master degree from National Film & TV School, London.
Since 2003 she acts as CEO & founder of Taskovski Films Ltd. (www.taskovskifilms.com), a London and Berlin based world sales and Production Company for independent documentary and fiction films. During the last decade Irena has also been working as external consultant / expert on marketing, sales and festivals for many film institutions, such as HBO Europe, Asian Cinema Fund, and Taiwan Film Institute.
Irena has been a lecturer at the Prague Film Academy (FAMU), at NFTS London, at University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, at Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico, and tutor at the Prague Institute of Documentary Film, as an expert on international film sales and distribution and creative project development and producing.
Irena has also been lecturing professionals about marketing and promotional strategies and distribution in various festivals (Krakow International Film Festival, Connecting Cottbus Germany, Sunny Side of the Docs France, DocEdge Kolkata, Chiledocs, etc.), lecturing as well in other events such as SOURCES 2 Script Development Workshop, DoK.Incubator, in master classes at Centro de Capacitación Cinematografica (Mexico) and at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and also in different panels such as EDN Meet the Distributors at Berlinale 2012, DOKWOKE India supported by British Council, Open City film festival (London), among other.
