Insectopedia awarded in the VAF Wildcard competition, Belgium
Antoine Fontaine, a DocNomads alumnus from France, received a Special Mention for his graduation film INSECTOPEDIA in the Wildcard competition for documentary held at the 24th International Short Film Festival Leuven, Belgium.
The Special Mention “Wildcard” is a significant award that is worth 4.000 € offered by the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) for the project development and production of Antoine’s next film.
It is the second time a DocNomads student receives a distinction from the VAF’s fund which representing the Flemish film industry annually issues 'Wildcards' to the most promising final projects of bachelor or master students from film schools in Belgium.

Synopsis:
Brussels. In a flea market, the director discovers a suitcase full of 16mm footage from a mysterious Dr. Veroft.
This doctor had a passion for insects. He filmed all kind of insects for nearly 50 years, taking notes and dissecting them. But the line between passion and obsession is thin.
The film is like an investigation to know who was this Dr. Veroft and what was the reason of this dubious obsession.
