Consortium Universities

In order to provide a high quality European Masters Course in Documentary Film Directing, three European HEIs with different pedagogical approaches and experiences in higher education have been chosen for the Consortium:

SZFE - Színház és Filmművészeti Egyetem / University of Theatre and Film Arts

The coordinating institution of the programme, SZFE is known for an educational approach based on solid master-apprentice relationships, on small-group tuition, as well as on having internationally acclaimed authors, directors and cinematographers within its faculty. From its very beginning, documentary filmmaking has been part of the school’s film and television training, and in 2011 SZFE launched its own Masters Course in Documentary Filmmaking.

LUCA - School of Arts / College Sint Lukas Brussels

Known for stimulating students' own style and individual voice, the school’s philosophy pushes for originality, independence, and development of personal ideas and beliefs. LUCA’s professional facilities and sound studio give students the chance to deepen their technical knowledge, providing them greater freedom to specialise in those aspects of documentary important to them, and to follow their artistic ambitions.

ULHT - Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias / Lusófona University

Renowned for over fifteen successful years of experience in the highly competitive sector of private education. From the very beginning of training, students learn how to meet professional standards. Lusófona has extensive experience in teaching subjects and associated competences related to documentary, both in media communication studies and in the film department. Lusófona teaches basic and advanced levels of documentary filmmaking to both undergraduate and post-graduate students.

Graduated students are awarded a multiple degree and a diploma supplement based on the locally accredited master courses (second cycle degrees) in filmmaking offered by each one of the schools in the consortium.

In Hungary, the Dokumentumfilm-rendező művész mesterképzési szak / Masters in Documentary Film Directing was accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (MAB) in May 2011.

In Belgium, the university college LUCA School of Arts, represented in the DOC NOMADS consortium by campus Sint Lukas Brussels, offers a recognized and accredited Master of Arts in de audiovisuele kunsten (master of Arts in Audio-Visual Arts) accredited by the Dutch-Flemish accreditation Organisation (NVAO) from 01/09/2011 - 30/09/2017 and its accreditation was renewed in 2016 from 01/10/2016 until 30/09/2024.

In Portugal, the Mestrado de Realização Documental / Masters in Documentary Film Making has been officially recognized by the Portuguese Ministry of Science and Higher Education and also by the National Agency for Higher Education Accreditation and Evaluation under Decree nr. 14500/2012, 8th November.
