DocNomads film in official competition at Documenta Madrid

The documentary short “She, Gis” (“A Gis”) directed by Thiago Carvalhaes, a DocNomads student from Brazil, is competing in the 14th Documenta Madrid -International Documentary Film Festival held in Madrid, Spain, from 4th to 14th May 2017.

The film was also selected to the 22nd FIRE – LGBT Film Festival held in Barcelona, Spain, from 8 to 18 June 2017.

Gilberta was a transsexual woman who lived in Portugal as an immigrant. She was brutally murdered 10 years ago and since then she has become an icon for the rights of transsexuals. Piece by piece, this documentary offers a delicate portrait of a woman torn apart by an indifferent world.
