"Casa da Quina" in official competition at Filmadrid.
Films serve as documents. They are visual registers of characters, places, moments and feelings that could vanish in any moment.
"Casa da Quina" of Arya Rothe captures a brief intimate moment with Quina (character) in Café Estádio, a place in Lisbon that no longer exists. It premiered in the past edition of DocLisboa and will now compete in Filmadrid on June 4th.
"In my experience all the cities everywhere have this one place that transcends, it is usually a place of comfort for many and is basically a collective. And these places closing down is really disturbing because they have stood witness to a long period of both communal and personal history" expressed Arya Rothe as she explained her connexion with her subject.
"Casa da Quina" is Arya Rothe´s first semester film. She is currently in Budapest making her final DocNomads project, also an intimate portrait reflecting on the relationship with spaces and memories.
