Nuno Sena holds a degree in Media Studies and a specialization in Film, at the FCSH - Universidade Nova de Lisboa.  

Worked at the National Film Institute (ICA - Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual) where he was responsible for the promotion of Portuguese cinema. He also worked in the programming, publishing and exhibitions of the National Film Archive - Portuguese Cinematheque from 1998 to 2003. There he organized more than 200 film programs and the coordination of over a dozen publications, also contributing with several articles about various films and directors in many of those publications. 

From 2004 to 2006 he was part of the directing and programming board of DocLisboa – International Documentary Film Festival. Currently, and since 2003, he is a director and programmer at IndieLisboa - International Independent Film Festival. 

Besides the DocNomads course, he also teaches Film History and Documentary Cinema at the Polytechnic School of Abrantes, and at Restart – Arts and New Media School, Lisbon.
