János J. Kovácsi is a senior faculty member and co-founding father of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts School of Filmmaking.
In the last two decades at UNCSA he taught film directing, screenwriting and directing the actor for the camera. Parallel to his current position he also teaches at Duke University’s Art of the Moving Image (AMI) program and Saint Augustine College where he taughts World Cinema classes.
Prior to his current position he worked as a film director both for traditional narrative and documentary films, theater director, screenwriter, and served as a First Assistant Professor at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest for 12 years. During his tenure at that institution he dealt primarily with foreign students from around the world when teaching directing for film and television, advanced screenwriting and directing the actor for film and television.
